Mosaic
Tunisia, my homeland, is a place you experience with all your senses: the scent of jasmine in the evening air, the taste of harissa at a shared table, the light reflecting off white walls in narrow streets, and the stories that echo from every stone. With this exhibition, I invite you to get to know my roots, a country every Tunisian is proud of.
The jasmine flower is a metaphor for the Tunisian soul. You may know it from the Jasmine Revolution in 2011, also known as the Arab Spring, when people stood up for dignity, freedom, and justice. Since then, Tunisia has become a symbol of hope and change. But the strength of this country goes back much further.
Tunisia’s culture has been shaped by more than three thousand years of history and a rich mix of ethnic influences. From the Phoenicians and the mighty Carthage to Roman amphitheaters, Berbers, Jews, Byzantines, Arabs, Ottomans, and the French, all have left their mark. Each civilization added something, making Tunisia the unique cultural mosaic it is today.
Thanks to its strategic location on the Mediterranean Sea, a gateway to Africa, Tunisia became a crossroads of civilizations. It looks out over Europe, but its heart beats African.
The country is as diverse as its people, from the green hills in the North to the vast Sahara in the South, from quiet beaches to rugged coastlines. And always that sun, that unmistakable Tunisian glow.
Tunisia is a place that touches you. Where you find peace in the desert, inspiration in the architecture, warmth in the people, and connection in the culture.
In general, i consider Tunisians us open-minded and progressive people. We love to celebrate life with dance , families, and most importantly homemade food. We also remain deeply rooted in tradition, honoring our parents and grandparents values, and showing respect for one another.
Tunisia is a bridge, between Africa and Europe, between past, present, and future. It is a country that continues to grow and innovate without ever forgetting where it comes from. We are proud Twensa: warm, generous, full of life, and dreamers.
This exhibition is an ode to that Tunisia: to its people, its heritage, its rhythm. To our past, present, and future. To our identity, our pride, our family.
This is my piece of home, shared with you.
